The Sarah Connor Chronicles

So a short while ago I was bemoaning the lack of decent TV, a lack only intensified by the Writer's Guild strike. "Now, we'll go from having almost nothing on to having absolutely nothing on," I grumbled. "And basketball doesn't count," I added hastily to that particular person.

"Well, there's the Sarah Connor Chronicles."

"That's Terminator. I didn't even like the original movies much."

But that and several other conversations today encouraged me to give the second part of the Sarah Connor Chronicles a try tonight. It's not going to be one of my favorite shows, but I do have to say that so far, I'm enjoying it more than I ever enjoyed any of The Terminator movies, and it might be worth following along on the internet or catching on DVD later.

On a related note, that The Moment of Truth show just looks utterly horrifying.

I was vastly underwhelmed.
From the cliche dream sequence opening to the shoehorning in of catch phrases to an unappealing cast (except for Summer Glau, who wasn't as good as I hoped) it hit al the wrong notes for me.
I will be filing this one in the same bin with Sci Fi's Flash Gordon, although this wasn't as bad as that monstrosity.

I don't think it was anywhere near as bad as Flash Gordon. That was unwatchable.

I'm starting to wonder if Summer Glau is just trying to typecast herself as "abnormally strong and very weird girl with abnormal powers."

I was disappointed with that casting myself.
When she first came on I said “How nice she gets a normal role.”
Ah well, so much for that.

The closest to a normal role that I've seen her in was her guest starring bit as a ballerina in Angel.

To be honest, I didn't really love it either. To me, the biggest flaw (although I agree with some of the points made by your other commenter) was that Sarah just didn't strike me as gritty enough. Linda Hamilton was one tough bitch in the movies and you believed that she was a fighter. This woman says things like "No one is safe" and you simply don't believe that she seriously feels that way.

(By the way, I don't know if it's you settings or mine, but when I was typing this comment, the text I got was light blue in a white comment box. Very hard to read.)

It's my settings. I haven't been able to figure out to fix them. I'll try to take another look this evening.

I kinda liked the no one is safe bit, but the hysteria of the "you don't know me" scene struck me as overdone.

You can use the inform lib which looks rather easy to use.

Ah. Yeah, I used to play Zork and a few of the others back in the day...but no, I've never written any.

Hmm. It's a thought. Perhaps I should look into it.

Use paper towels and rubber bands.

So I'm to assume they would work in a fictional text game, even if they didn't in real life?

That seems to be a general reaction. I don't think it would do well if we had hopes to have anything else on.
